Our forthcoming performance of Britten's War Requiem on November 10th 2018 will be the culmination of a series of five, war-themed autumn concerts that Ripon Choral Society began in 2014, to mark the centenary of the First World War.
To prepare for the War Requiem concert and to raise funds for RCS (80%) and Royal British Legion (20%), from May 8th to 16th 2018, John Lawton (bass), Colin Whitham (tenor) and Andrew Hill (tenor) cycled the whole length of the Western Front, from the Belgian coast to the Swiss border. Jane Drake (alto) and her husband Del drove a support van. We stopped at memorials, museums and cemeteries all along the route. There is information about these, with links to websites, on our route map. Just zoom in and click on them for the details.
Our fundraising page will be open until the concert in November, so please visit it to sponsor the ride.
Andy wrote a blog and posted photos every day throughout the ride - at his cycling blogsite.
